Wayne County AmeriCorps Mentoring and Peer Services (MAPS) program is a volunteer opportunity for Americans of all ages and backgounds to serve Wayne County by partnering with local non-profit agencies.  AmeriCorps members serve at numerous host sites, such as the Literacy Volunteers of Wayne County, Montezuma Audubon Center, Finger Lakes Addiction Counseling and Referral Agency, the Success Center/Transitional House and the Lyons Community Center.  Members devote up to 1700 hours of direct service to the community in exchange for a living allowance, education grant, practical training and work experience.

Our program also offers a unique 300 hour commitment service opportunity.  Upon completion of only 300 hours of service, AmeriCorps Members receive an education award to pay off college loans or to put toward future education.  These placements vary in location and duration, and thus are perfect for students looking for summer internships, part-time volunteers, people with mandated community service hours, and exploring new career paths!


** We currently have TWO 300 hours, Education Award only placements to be completed before December 31, 2010.  Placements will be filled at a first come first served basis.

Host Sites

Non-profit agencies and schools interested in serving as host sites for our AmeriCorps members are invited to contact us for more information.  Host sites must provide members with meaningful hours , supervision, and a modest cash match in nonfederal funds.  In return, AmeriCorps members wll serve as mentors at your site for 10-12 months.

AmeriCoprs contract hours include: 1700 for full-time, 900 for half-time, 675 for reducted half-time, 450 for quarter time and 300 for minimum time members.
